I would like to study at Manchester because it would a new
environment for me, where I would meet lots of new people. I also like the
library on campus as well as the older buildings and their architecture as that
is a component that links to my studies. Recently I visited St. Georges Hall,
that has been featured in films such as Batman due to its architecture. It is
part of the neoclassical buildings in Liverpool and I like how it has a simple
exterior but actually if you look closer you can see some Roman detailing, I also like
the sculpting of people on the east side of the hall which I found out is
actually the story of The Growth
of Justice by Thomas Sterling Lee. One of my favourite buildings is the
Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry, as I like how it almost ‘shape
shifts’ in the way that from the front it looks like a ship but from the top
view, it looks more like a flower, and I quite like how it is almost like an
optical illusion. A work of architecture that I would like to experience in
person is The Brunelleschi Dome, Florence as I like how it includes Gothic,
Romanesque, and Renaissance styles in one building.
